Discussion on “Our Relationship with Animals”

Does our relationship with animals contribute to peace or violence in the world at large?
How does the financial crisis affect decisions about compassionate care?
How does our concept of “ownership” affect our treatment of animals?
Do animals have a spiritual life?

These were a few of the topics that were discussed during the panel discussion on March 22, 2009, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The event was sponsored by the Dharma Realm Buddhist University (DRBU). It was held in the DRBU conference room at the City of 10,000 Buddhas.

Ron Epstein, PhD, research professor at Dharma Realm Buddhist University, has taught animal and environmental ethics at San Francisco State University
