I Feel that the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas
is a very Good Place

Instilling Goodness Boys’ School, Grade 6

Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Venerable Master, all Dharma Masters, and all good knowing advisors, good evening everybody! My name is Michael Lu, and I am a sixth grader at Instilling Goodness Boys’ School.

I originally came from Avatamsaka Vihara, and in 2007 I came to the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas. I feel that the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas is a very good place; there are lots of trees, grass, and flowers; we are like a big family!

With these good circumstances, I am able to go to the Buddha Hall to attend ceremonies. You really need blessings to come to this wonderful place!

In school, there are many classes, such as math, English, Chinese, and many more. At this school, there is a special feature; students can use what knowledge they have to learn what is appropriate for them. Also, at Cherishing Youth Day and Honoring Elders Day, students will perform programs to astonish the elderly or the students of public schools.

But the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas has a class that public schools don’t have; that is students of our school have the opportunity to learn the ancient Chinese culture. If you learn Chinese well, you can attend several contests, such as the Chinese Academics Competition and the Chinese Culture Competition. I have a warm family. I feel that learning Chinese is not that hard, but the information that we have to learn for the competitions is extremely difficult!

For the past few months, I have gone upstage to listen to the older boys translate. I never had thought that I would be doing the same thing in a month! Translating is very interesting, but if you translate something wrong, then that would not be good. Translating helped me a lot, and from this experience I have learned many things, such as learning the Buddhadharma, also improving my Chinese and English, and I can practice speaking in front of a lot of people, and I can try not to be afraid or nervous. I wish all of the younger children will be able to go upstage and translate! Lastly, I wish everybody will vigorously attain Buddhahood! Amitabha!
