THE SAGELY CITY OF TEN THOUSAND BUDDHAS
Life in CTTB
by Angela Green
When I was 3 years old my mom got a job in a tiny town called Ukiah. After living here for a little while my parents hear that there was a very good restaurant in Talmage and on going there found out that there was a school. They asked around to see if people thought it was a good idea to send me there, and after hearing almost all positive things, thought that it would be a good idea to send me here for a bit.
That “bit” turned out to be a lot longer than anyone expected. I've been at this school ever since I was four and have never gone anywhere else. When I tell outside friends that I've never been to a public school their comment would most likely be: “Oh! I feel really, really bad for you” or “That sucks” but I don't really have any regrets about staying here. This place has taught me almost everything I want to know and more. Not only has it been a really good learning experience but it's taught me moral values as well, like to appreciate my parents. There are times when I think about taking money from my parents' secretly from their wallets because I don't have enough to get something I want, but then I remember all the things that they have done and I don't because it's not right to do that. It's taught me that I will get karma for everything I do, and that has changed the way I deal with things and has made an improvement with my life. I used to see a bug and say “Ewwwww it's a bug” and then I would squish it, but now I learned to value life and that someday that bug could be me, my life ending just because I thought it was disgusting.
I have to say that all my memorable moments of/at this school are all involving the friends I've had. This school is special in the sense that most of the time no one is bullied. We are a school that has many different kinds of people from all over the world, so you would think that there would be some cultural differences that would cause some disagreements and there is but they never get to the point of violence. I love how all my friends are the kinds that would never influence me to do bad things. In fact they encourage me to do better. They are the type of friend who not only help you up after you fail but they also point you in the right direction. There was a time when I did really bad on my math test and almost everyone got higher than me, but instead of rubbing it in my face and bragging about it, some of my friends helped my get better and I bet if I had retaken that test I would have aced it. I'm OK with learning and everything but the real reason I look forward to coming to school is to be around the friends that like having me around. Every day in the morning there is always someone waiting to see me and it makes me happy. In conclusion I would like to say that even though I've been here all my life and have never gone anywhere else, I have never thought about leaving. Well, not seriously anyways. Every time I do I feel this nagging feeling in the back of my brain that tells me that I belong here and I have to say I believe it.
