The Venerable Master invited nearly one hundred eminent Sanghans from China to hold the Water, Land, and Air Ceremony at the City of 10,000 Buddhas in 1987. It was the first time this major ceremony had ever been held in the West. Chinese and American Sanghans recited Sutras and bowed in repentance in the various Platforms, liberating the spirits of those who had perished in disasters, calamities, or wars throughout history.

Thousands of Buddhists from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Canada, and the United Sates participated in this unprecedented, magnificent gathering.
